Printer Sharing in Jaguar?

Posted:
in macOS edited January 2014
I am so lost. I'm trying to use the printer that is connected on a network upstairs. When I click on the "Go" menu and go to "Connect to Server" I can see my dad's computer and my sister's. I've connected to my sister's and I see the icon mounted on my desktop. I've gone into the print center and typed in her IP address and put in the name of the printer "HP LaserJet 1200". Please help! <img src="graemlins/hmmm.gif" border="0" alt="[Hmmm]" />

Oops! Can a mod move this to the genius bar?

Is everybody running Jag ?... if so, it's real easy.... on the computer the printer is connected to, go to prefs/sharing and just select USB printer sharing (assuming the printer connects by USB).

If not USB or not Jag, then it MAY not be possible... more info would help (operating systems, printer connection)

    good luck !!!

You might want to check out the <a href="http://www.macosxhints.com"; target="_blank">Mac OS X Hints</a> web site - I believe that they've covered this in their "networking" section recently. I don't know about compatibility with Win98 in particular, but you might poke around the site and see if you can find anything... Good luck!
