Can you please update "read" status earlier?

Threads stay marked as unread, unless you want for the full page to load. Most of the time this means that read/unread flags are useless, because

"waiting for google.analytics..."

keeps going for a long time after you have finished reading the page of posts. So if you go something else, the "read" flag fails to update.

And update the read status when you post something. I created this thread, and it still shows up as "unread" for me.

Maybe that server is having problems.

    What browser?

    If Firefox:

    http://www.customizegoogle.com/block...s-cookies.html

There are site blockers for Safari, but I don't know them well, so I can't recommend one.

    All browsers:

edit /etc/hosts using a unix editor. Enter in the Unix terminal (under Applications / Utilities)

    Code:

    sudo nano /etc/hosts

    and add the line:

    Code:

    127.0.0.1 www.google-analytics.com

And save it Ctrl-O (the letter), Ctrl-X to quit.

Enter system password wherever it asks for it.

Thanks! That worked for google analytics. For Windows users, the file is in windows/system32/drivers/etc/hosts.

    127.0.0.1 www.google-analytics.com

    127.0.0.1 ssl.google-analytics.com

You need to open Wordpad first (right click and "run as administrator"), and then do a file open.

But I still have the same issue with ad.doubleclick.net and a bunch of other advertising sites - they all block the final loading of the page, so the thread never gets marked as read.

I don't know. If it helps, more power to you.
