FERRO, he should be able to transfer the license. Your friend probably just made a 'back-up' though...which is invalidated immediately after he sells you the software license.

...but since Apple doesn't have any kind of piracy protection...

I want to be on the level here with apple... I use idisk and plan to buy .mac later on... I dont want to have my idisk erased and service canceled if this is considered a *shady* exchange...

I mean I dont/cant *know* wether he kept 10.2 and is still using it... does this mean that he wont be able to get any assistance from apple? will I be able to get any assistance from apple?(Not that I have ever needed it) Its him thats breaking the law if he keeps the software right? Or is this like recieving stolen property?

this whole deal seems so *uneasy* yet cheaper...

I dont want to get screwed...

As long as you have all the printed materials, EULA, original CDs, etc. you will be fine.

Man, you're being a little anal about this whole thing, aren't you? As long as you have the original disc, you'll be ok. Seriously. And even if you didn't, there's no way for Apple to know. You're friend sounds like a sleeze though. You know he's going to keep using it. So, just get the original media as your proof of purchase. It doesn't matter where it came from.
