I think you're onto something. If the display, keyboard, and mouse were all wireless, then one could go anywhere in the house to use the computer. But you'd have to get up everytime you needed a new CD in the base unit, not that often though.
An alternative would be to buy a laptop. You could carry it all with you, anywhere, and there would be no getting up to access the optical drive.
