Iphone Nano, Pro and the FCC
Apologize if this has been asked/answered.
I want to know whether Apple would have to have fcc approval for each new device even if it
used the same radio/chipset that is currently in the 3g.
Can we use the fcc to estimate the actual availability vs announcements
I can't remember how this played out with the 3g handset.
thanks if you know.

Yes I believe they would have to do that. I belive there are certain classes of data radios that can be placed on a PC board without further FCC approval but these are not cell phones. In any event the rest of the device still needs FCC approval.

I can't either but it does take soketime and frankly there is likely to be a lot of variables there. The biggest one being just how far before announcement the phone was submited for approval.
thanks if you know.
Can't say anything for sure, as I said lots of variables. That being said an announcement just means that you can plan your cash flow.
Dave.

Thanks Dave, looks like a 3g for me, The only other option would be to buy a windows mobile handset through verizon and use it to transmit wifi to my ipod touch. That idea sucks I know....I just wish att had 3g coverage in my area.....I am really dreading only having edge....almost a deal breaker.....I still don't understand why att does not offer an edge only pricing scheme for those of us who do not have access to 3g
