Now What?!?!
Yeah...this blows. I was waiting for any kind of news for the iMac, but nothing...not one bit of news. I'm thinking of just going out and buying one of the current lineups for the iMac, but I just don't know. I need a computer soon, but I'm wondering if any new iMac's with the NVIDIA chipset as rumors mentioned will be shipping any time soon. This will be my first iMac, and I don't know if I should keep waiting. Would you guys hold off a little bit longer?

I'd hold off if I could wait say another 6 weeks. If I couldn't wait I'd look for a killer deal.
Think about if if iLife 09 isn't shipping until late January then chances are Apple's going to delay a Mac mini or iMac announcement until they can deliver the new computers with the new iLife and $40 iWork. It makes total sense.

Yeah...I guess that does make sense. Especially with all the reports that digitimes (http://www.macrumors.com/c.php?u=htt...l&t=1231238117) states that Qanta is gearing up to ship 800,000 iMac units in January, which will probably combine with the iLife and iWork software.

That's my best guess. I mean the Macbook Pro 17 was overdue and frankly it's a low volume product as compared to the next Mac mini and iMac. Had Apple shipped them today they'd have to ship out 300k up to date discs for iLife. I doubt they think that's a good idea.
I'm betting that new iMacs/Mac mini hit shortly after iLife 09 is ready for preinstallation on these computers.

January 18 is when Intel starts shipping its new lower-power Core 2 Quads.
