"Apple is ditching MacWorld to instead exhibit at CES next year instead, according to one source.

The source, citing “friends who work at Apple,” insisted the company is ditching MacWorld because it will “go large” at CES, which typically runs concurrently with MacWorld in early January."

Remember when Apple announced the iPhone? It absolutely killed CES that year as all of the attention and buzz went to Macworld. There were a lot of unhappy folks at CES who spent the entire show answering "What do you think about that new iPhone?" rather than talking up their products.

After that, CES head honchos began a dialogue to get Apple to join CES, rather than compete. They offered them a sweetheart deal, with special promotional arrangements, etc.

That's the story I was told over a couple of beers anyway..."

That's about the only thing that might make any vague kind of sense.

CES does nothing for Apple that Macworld announcement couldn't do.

More mainstream, plays with the big boys, even more media coverage (since everyone goes to CES), etc.

No, doesn't make much sense really but MWSF would really be dead. Perhaps the intent is for 2010 to really suck, have it die and then go to CES in 2011.

    Eh.
