So I was able to reformat my Maxtor One Touch 4 so that the whole thing is the FAT32 format. Is there a way I can partition that drive so that only part of it is FAT32 and the other part MAC OS Extended ect?

Yup, I did that with one of my externals so I could put Windows on it. Go to Disk Utility (found in Applications under Utilities), select the drive, go to the partition tab.. from there it should be self explanatory.
