VideoDrive: adding videos to iTunes without reconversion

hi,

I recently started using this tool, VideoDrive (check out http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/27326/videodrive) and I like it a lot as it puts my whole movie and TV show collection in iTunes . These are all DIVX and XVId but VideoDrive imports them all very fast without reconverting them. Do others have experience with this tool? I was wondering if the videos will keep on playing, even if iTunes gets updated or when I remove the tool?

Also, I am considering to buy an AppleTV . The tool says my iTunes videos will stream to AppleTV too, again without reconverting them. Clearly, I will have to install Perian on my AppleTV for this to work. Still, this sounds very cool, and was wondering if others have experience with that?

thanks!

If you search for "AppleTV fooler", it lets you do a similar thing for free. (Leastways, it handles the converting the file part. You still have to add the metadata manually.)

thanks, I've tried it, and they produce the same file for AppleTV. Great, this means the VideoDrive solution will work too. I prefer that one as it adds metadata and hot folders to automatically process videos.

I've been doing the ATV/VideoDrive combo for a while now. I've never encountered a problem yet. I put the original files on my external hard drive, run them through VideoDrive, and then use MetaX to add the metadata (It's a lot more powerful than VideoDrive's built in editor). Then I just delete the original file and import into iTunes. It works wondefully.
