Trouble Restoring iPod

Hi all.

A friend has an iPod that's corrupted (by satan!) and has asked me to restore it. It's formatted for Windows and, because of the corruption, it won't mount on a Mac. I got it to mount on my PC, restored it, but when it got to the last bit where it says "disconnect and reconnect to a power supply to complete the process," I unplugged it and plugged it back in to the USB cable, nothing happens.

It's one of the iPod with click wheel models.

I've rebooted it, but it only comes back to the image of the iPod power adapter going into a wall socket.

Any thoughts?

I've recently just gotten the same problem trying to clean out an ipod a friend gave me. Same model, windows format and I could open it fine on a mac before restoring, but now I only get the adapter icon, and only if I plug it into the computer. I don't have an official adapter though.
