iBook G4 Stalling while loading website.

I was at a convention a few weeks ago and was having constant issues with Safari "stalling" while starting to load a website.
The blue bar in the address would go as far as http:// and just sit there ... my buddy had a MBP right bedside me and was having little or no issues with loading websites.
I still thought maybe it was just his getting a better signal since he had a different laptop.
last night I was on the iBook and it did the exact same thing at home ... I hopped on Firefox and it still had the same issues.
I was getting a very strong signal.
Any ideas what the problem might be?
Can i get a better Airport card?
