iTunes Library lost the whole of 2008!

Hi there,

I've just noticed my iTunes Library has regressed to one from 2007. All my Playlists, all my files I've added in the past year and a bit have disappeared from the library.

It would appear the files themselves are still intact, but my Library has maybe become corrupt and reverted to a really old version. Can anyone please please help? My iTunes Library is my life (well nearly)... :-(

I stopped doing Time Machine backups because I ran out of disk space :-( what an idiot...

thanks

:-Joe

    Hi there,

Thanks for the reply - I forgot I had this comment on here and didn't tell people I sorted it out! I really have NO idea what Library it was pointing at, but I noticed my real Library wasn't getting modified when I made changes to it. So I held down option and reloaded iTunes, chose the real Library and - hey presto - everything was back to normal

    Thanks again for caring

I have no idea how it was changed in the first place... And I still can't find the file it was using! But I'm just grateful that I haven't lost anything... phew!

You have to uninstall MS Office for Mac: http://www.mydigitallife.info/2009/0...-system-suite/

I don't think it was that because I don't have MS Office installed...

Anyway I'm very surprised to be getting a reply about this now... This was several months ago! But thanks for the help anyway

Things are different for me now... I have a nice Time Capsule and my iTunes library (along with many other things) get backed up all the time... I no longer have to worry about running out of disk space either, now I have a dedicated device!

If you have any microsoft software your itunes library could disappear and the backup too.
