defective iMac
I bought an iMac 20" last May in Hong Kong and had it shipped to the Philippines. It hasn't been working properly since I got it. Programs quit by themselves. Finder and System Preferences have also quit. I also have encountered the beachball 2x. Reformatted and reinstalled several times and updated all software when an update became available. Finally got fed up as trying to fix it myself wasn't working. I took it to the authorized service center last November. Since then it's had it's hard drive and logic board replaced but it's still having the same problems. All diagnostics report the computer as working properly but in actual usage the same problems are still happening. No third-party software added and only the keyboard, mouse and ethernet cable are attached.
I have called Apple Singapore and have worked with their Tech Support. He had me run several diagnostic tests and finally a Zero Out, reinstall and update. The computer was still having problems including the beachball. I have already spoken to several Customer Service and Product Specialists. They still insist on fixing the computer. All Tech Support is doing is to repeat what has already been done before and that is to reformat, reinstall and update all software. They don't want to admit that the unit I got is beyond repair and needs to be replaced. So now I am writing to any forum to show my dissatisfaction with the service I have been getting. My parents were happy with the 17" inch iMac I bought them so I decided to buy another one. I'm very disappointed with Apple as a company. My case #115209068.

However, I'd make them replace it. Obviously the issues aren't getting fixed and they have no idea what's wrong with it. When you pay this kind of money for a computer you don't expect these kinds of issues.
Apple does different things in different countries. I believe Apple in Europe used to be terrible with customer relations and Apple sales in Europe showed. It seems to have been turned around now. Perhaps Apple Asia needs a revamp?
