Easy check for QE?

As I recall, there's a Quartz Extreme cheker program out there somewhere, but my question is: why?

Isn't it true that the mouse pointer has a shadow under QE but not without it?

All I know is that my TiBook pointer is flat as ever while the G4s we have all show shadows and antialiasing.

Isn't this right?

Sometimes the mouse pointer is flat in certain programs... I know that in Mozilla, when the cursor with the little beachball next to it is on, there's no shadow under that.

An easier way to check is to set your desktop background to switch ever five seconds, and see if it fades or not. If it's a smooth fade from one to the next, then you have QE. If it's a sharp transition, then you don't. Finally, the slideshow-like screensavers have a fading and zooming function for QE - the pictures on various savers like Cosmos, Forest, Beaches, .Mac, Abstract, etc., will zoom slowly in or out and fade smoothly between pictures if you have QE.
