12% speed loss on MacOS X ?
An Unsanity (http://www.haxies.com/) developer writes (http://www.unsanity.org/archives/000044.php) in his blog that MacOSX, by using the CISC-optimized Mach-O ABI, which is derived directly from NeXT, can see a decrease of speed of up to 12%. Attempts to rewrite that ABI would result in breakage of applications and binary compatibility.
I found this via (http://www.osnews.com) and thought it would be an interesting discussion topic.
