Printing problems
Hi, hope someone can help. I'm trying to print to an HP deskjet 6122 - latest drivers from HP installed, on OS X 10.2.1. Problem - any print job I send gets spooled to the print queue, it says "accessing printer" and then it says "jobs stopped." So, I press "start jobs". It makes like it wants to do something ("acessing printer") then again, "jobs stopped". This repeats forever. In every app I've tried. Print Center Repair doesn't help. Repairing permissions doesn't help. The frustrating thing is, the HP Print Utility prints as many test and diagnostic pages as you want. I don't get it. Any ideas?

Uncompress the file with Stuffit Expander
3.\tLaunch the "hp inkjet installer" program, and follow the on-screen instructions
4.\tAfter the installation is complete, launch the Print Center application (found in Applications - Utilities - Print Center)
5.\tSelect each hp inkjet or deskjet printer, and delete them
6.\tWhen there are no more hp inkjet or deskjet printers shown in the Print Center, select "Add" or "Add Printer", and follow the on-screen instructions.
step 5 and 6 are important....
finally: have you tried a re-start?? i find that print center doesn't "see" my printer if i turn it off when my computer is sleeping...so if i put my computer to sleep and start to walk out of the room and then notice that the printer is still on, i alway reach over and turn the printer off....then the next time i want to print i have to restart....i do this often as i is not smart.....hope this helps.....g
1. Go to the library folder and delete everything inside the printers forlder.
2. Reinstall the printer pacakges from the Mac OS X CD 2.
3. Go into the Print Center and delete whatever is there.
4. Reinstall the 2.0e drivers from HP (or whatever version they are at). You'll need to download them from their website.
5. Delete the Lexmark, Epson and Canon folders from within /Library/Printers/ if you want.
That's all I did and it worked for me. I reinstalled drivers separate to the utilities but that shouldn't make a difference.

Three things I have found that seem to cause troubles.
1. Make sure the cables are secure. Once or twice I've found that pressing the cables in tighter made it work OK. We swap cables and printers around so we have occasion to see this problem.
2. In Print Utility remove the printer and then add it again. The printer has to be connected and powered on to do this. Once or twice this has fixed that problem.
3. Quit Print Center. In your home/library/preferences folder find and delete
com.apple.print.PrintCenter.plist
then try printing again.
Hope it helps.

I use an HP 5000 on a nt network.
I print inDesign, photoshop and illustrator (oh ya word in classic). I too experianced the problems you are experiancing. Now my prints take only moments.
I have found Gimp print invaluble.
Just don't forget to instal "Ghost Writer" for postscript files.
