I have been a windows gu yall my life. I am not a windows only guy though. Here at work we might be getting a few apple macs (new imacs) . I realised I know next to nothing about macs (especially them on an all windows network).

So I got a $200 power mac g4 mdd with dual processor 1.25ghz 1 gig ram and a 9800 pro .

How do you guys feel about this machine? Keep in mind this wont be a main work computer. Mainly to play around with and to get a fee lfor osx . Especially how osx runs on an all windows network.

I think it would be a good machine for starters. I have a Indigo G4 at my school, it was loaded with OS 9 we were going to put OS X on it but someone stole the RAM, i know that was way off point but it is a really good machine.

That's the same machine I have currently, except I have the original Radeon 9000 64 meg graphics card. That said, I've run this machine without extended shutdown (minus neighborhood power failures) for 8 years. My total troubleshooting time for this machine has been 2 hours, to diagnose a bad RAM stick. The RAM failure occurred about 3 years ago. I use this machine for approximately 8 hours every day for writing in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. I burn CDs and DVDs. Watch online video and manage my iTunes library. I even do a little light gaming with older games.

$200 is a hell of a bargain if yours runs half as well as mine.
