Groceries for iPhone divides shopping lists by aisles

As the App Store offers more and more ways to entertain iPhone and iPod Touches, there are also more and more apps being created to help people with their daily tasks - shopping, for instance. There are a lot of Shopping List apps for the iPhone (and many people find they can just get by with Apple's own Notes), but for the true power shoppers there is now Groceries ($2.99, App Store) from Sophiestication Software, also known for Tipulator, which we recently covered.

Like many other shopping list apps, Groceries has a built-in list of products preloaded into the app to make list creation a little more swift. It is possible that Groceries has a larger list than most - they claim 'hundreds' - but there's no simple way to check that.

What may be unique to Groceries is how it divides the list into different aisles - like produce, dairy, fish and so on - possible preventing users from potentially walking back and forth within their supermarket. Items can be moved between aisles if they need modifying, or into a different list completely in the case you're visiting multiple stores.

The interface is well made and seems focused on streamlining the process, remembering details you enter to help the faster building of a shopping list next time. As you can imagine, this is because in reality, nobody wants to muck about with a phone for too long while they walk about in the store, especially considering this app's main competitor, a sheet of paper and a pencil.
