iBook finder header

I have an iBook G4. I shut it down and plugged in the battery recharge. When I booted back up, instead of words along the top of my FInder (File, Edit, View, Go etc.) I have capital A in a square box on the entire copy line. The drop downs are the same and all copy on the desktop under the icons are also cap As in a box. I tried restarting but no change. What is going on???
