I don't know what happened....

Yesterday...sometime, I noticed my System Preferences were getting messed up. First, I am an admin user on my mac. I lost the icon for the 'Account' pane. I can't get to it! Then, about 10 minutes later I found that I had an 'extra' keyboard pane icon....then about 2 hours later I noticed yet a 3rd keyboard prefs icon.

I need help...is there a pref file that I can trash that would reset this? My wifes login, whom is also an admin, is still working just fine....so it must be with my account. Please advise.

Thanks

Eddie

I think resetting your pram might help.

Hold down the following keys while starting up (so, you hold it from the beginning):

    apple-key + option + P + R

    (4 keys, these are).

I guess you'll hear a chime, but I'm not sure. Anyway, this resets your PRAM, which also has, as a consequence, that your clock will be off.

Rumor has it you might want to try this more than once.

Anyway, this might help. Hope it does, really.

this wouldn't help. reseting your PRAM isn't a cure to everything which happens in OS 10.

    1. Quit System Preferences if they're running

    2. Delete all files in ~/Library/Caches/

    3. Start System Preferences again.
