Terminal Script: Find & replace

in macOS edited January 2014
I?m using a digital asset management solution to organize our image library. For some reason the application is not seeing folders & files that contains symbols like /, #, @, ~, *, $, \\.

In our server I discovered a folder with thousands of images in subfolders that have those special symbols. I need to replace all special symbols with _ (underscore), label them with a color ( to know which files names were changed). Can this be achieved in a Terminal script? I know it can be done using Applescript & Automator but I just want to see another possibilities.

Thanks You
