15" MBP and RAM limits

So I need a new laptop, and I'm thinking about buying a 15" MBP. However, I want near limitless RAM upgrade potential. It's my understanding that the 2.4 15" MBP will only be able to handle 4GB RAM, but the 2.66 and 2.93 15" MBP should be able to use 8GB RAM. Can anyone confirm this opinion? I understand Apple has not officially acknowledged this, but I wanted to know if the "going sentiment" was that 8GB RAM will work on the 2.66 and 2.93 15" MBP. And assuming this is true, that means the 2.66 and 2.93 15" MBPs should be able to handle 16, 32, 64, etc. GB of RAM, as long as the proper modules are still made? So I'm basically asking if the 2.66 and 2.93 15" MBP's RAM limits are determined by hardware/software/firmware, OR industry/market conditions.

And does anyone know what the optimal RAM requirements will be for Snow Leopard?
