Wayward text edit file

I use a text edit file as a to-do list; however, it doesn't play nice. When I click on its icon, it pops up somewhere other than where I want it. I've tried "Preferences" and TextEdit help on and off line. I can't find any info on it. I'm probably not using the exact words that 'help' would recognize. I've tried saying "Simon Says" too , but that doesn't work either. Suggestions?

You mean the window is not where you want it? Rather than using TextEdit for this, use stickies. It is designed for that sort of usage.

I understand and will change to a sticky; however, I would still like to know if it is possible to make a TestEdit window appear where you want it on the desktop. Thanks

Not life threatening. No big deal. I'd just like TextEdit to open in a less obtrusive place on my desktop - IF that's at all possible.

Some files open where they were last closed. TextEdit doesn't seem to want to do that.

Hm, you mean you want the window of a given TextEdit file to have constant geometry (dimensions and coordinates on the display)? I have not noticed that TextEdit does not like that (too little used it), but I will try when I get back home.
