Iphone 2G or Itouch?

I'm on T-mobile and contract ends in February. I own HTC Dash but love the touch screen of iphone/itouch. I'm debating between buying an Itouch at apple store or buying an unlocked 2G iphone on ebay. What are the differences of each and pros and cons of buying one over the other.

    if you want to use the device to make phone calls, there is only one choice, right? If you don't plan to use the device to make calls, why buy a two year old device?
