I recently discovered linuxprinting.org's 10.2 jaguar section. Oh my. Do you feel, as I did, that the print driver supplied by your printer's manufacturer is total shite? Head on over to <a href="http://linuxprinting.org"; target="_blank">linuxprinting.org</a> and feel the joy of open standards and open source.

Linuxprinting.org's drivers took my Samsung ML-1210 from 4 ppm to the advertised 12.

What's the interface like if you use a CUPS driver? I mean, like the Page Setup and Print boxes (extra features supported?), and the Print Centre (do jobs display there as usual?)

Everything looks and feels like OS X. All printing in OS X is done through CUPS, so you're using it now whether you know it or not. The drivers are a quick .pkg install and include a read me that details even advanced printer setup.
