G5: Another Possible Explanation

Let us discuss the possibility that Apple itself has intentionally leaked info on the G5 in order to create a frenzy once it arrives. The G4 was hyped to the extreme and this may be as well.

Please also comment on the possibility that MOT and Apple agreed to the leak in order to push stock price up. Perhaps it was MOT that leaked the info on production. Doing it in such a way gets the word out to create hype yet isn't a massive PR effort which would sap demand for the G4, either. This way, when the G5 arrives, both companies will/may experience a "got it done after all" boost in sales and stock price.

Also, no real denials have happened. Only "we can't comment" statements and the like. What do you think? Maybe Apple isn't so tight lipped after all. Besides, the Government leaks stuff all the time, just when they want it out there, but unofficially.

Sorry, but no company -- least of all Apple --intentionally "leaks" information for any reason.

Mac fanatics have been waiting for a G5 for two years...there's no need for Apple or Moto to stir the frenzy pot. Besides, if Apple was planning to release a G5 in January the last thing they would want is to leak that information. They might as well just close the Apple Store for a month.

They definately didn't intentially leak info on the G5. Apple would NEVER do that.

To my recollection, all the rumor sites thought that the G4 wasn't ready & that it'd be released later. This isn't consitant with the senario that your painting now since most rumors are saying that there's a reasonable chance it'll be ready for MWSF.

Besides. If Apple & MOT could keep it's release a total secret then:

    A) as mentioned, it wouldn't hurt apple sales till the release

    B) it would turn a lot of heads, afterall nobody would be expecting this new powerful processor & it'd get a lot of media coverage due to the mere shock of everyone.
