Is there any way to stop osX from passing on formating data from the clipboard?

I have to move several hundred fields individually from mail to filemaker pro by hand. When I paste the data the formatting from mail comes with it, so I then have to change the font, size, and style to fit the rest of the database.

Please tell me there is a solution to this.

There may be a better solution than this, but could you cut it all from the mail and paste it into something like bbedit? That way it will loose its formatting then you could cut and paste to your database from the bbedit file. btw - you ca get bbedit lite for free.

Or stickies or use TextEdit and make it plain text.

I've been pasting into bbedit then copy and pasting it into filemaker, but that doubles the work.

OSX the missing manual raves about the wonderful feature of copying styled text, and it doesn't mention a way to turn it off. Even stupid windows has a paste plane text option -- there must be some way to turn this "feature" off.

O gods, it's 3 am and I'm only half done with the project... it wasn't hundreds, but thousands that I have to move.

I searched versiontracker for stuff. that's what I found:

The only thing I can suggest is to write yourself an AppleScript to do it. I know FileMaker is a scriptable application, but I have never worked with it myself.

use <a href="http://konfabulator.deskmod.com/?show=showskin&skin_id=25384"; target="_blank">this</a>. you need Konfabulator tough. But you're going to want that anyway.
