Wanted iPhone Devices
Ok. we know the new OS 3.0 will allow iPhones to interact with 3rd party accessories in new ways.

What devices would you like to see developed?
Personally, I can think of two I would really like soon:
1) an audio interface that would allow me to connect a decent microphone to the iphone; the app would allow basic audio editing. Could then send the files by mail or upload to a homepage, etc. This leads to another app would like to see: Keynote lite.
2) a weather monitoring system such as the Kestrel 4000 that would allow onsite monitoring and instant posting of data. NK haven't upgraded the computer connection interface in several years (no Mac native) so now would be a great chance. Star Trek tricorder???

I would like to see a device that would allow me to connect my iphone directly to a projector/sound system directly from the dock.
Microwave ovens, home theater receivers, cable boxes, clock radios, etc.-- instead of having to work your way through random button presses to toggle modes and increment values, just offload the smarts to the iPhone, and let it talk to your programming/control routines.
When you buy, say, a Panasonic Microwave, it comes with code to download a free control app. It could have far more nuanced control presets than the typical front panel, it could incorporate recipes, and most importantly it could be easy to use. For timed functions, it could have an on screen countdown and an audio alert when done. Start things running and walk away. Ditto home theater receivers-- source mapping, speaker leveling, zone assignment, etc., would be much, much easier with a big, graphic touch UI and some real processing power to drive it. Cheap digital controls mean that things like washing machines are sprouting tons of parameters, but the control surfaces suck. iPhone to the rescue.
Wouldn't have to add much to the cost of things, since all you need is a bluetooth radio and a bit of programming. Or, if you wanted to get ambitious, let the stuff talk to your iPhone of the net, and start dinner on the way home.
