Converting mp3 to lower bitrate

Is it possible to convert certain (not all) albums in my iTunes library to a lower bitrate? The files in question are speech only (German language course) and I want to reduce the file sizes.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Of course. Temporarily change your iTunes import settings to the codec and bitrate of your choice. I suggest AAC, 96kbps, mono, optimize for voice.

Then grab those tracks you want to reencode and right click, and choose "create AAC version". It will reencode and leave your original files intact, which you can then delete.

Then when you're done, change your import settings back to your preferred choice for importing CDs.
