I want to know if I upgrade my old iphone 3G (currently no sim car) to OS 3.0

will it brick my phone???

I am using it as wifi device and ipod for right now...

    No, but you'll have to do a full restore, which will take some time out of your day. Give it three hours until you have your iPhone back in working order, you know including all that synch time etc. It shouldn't brick your phone, but I did notice it took me a while to actually get into DFU mode--if you know what that is. You'll be alright, go for it.
