How long does it take a few very good programers at apple to fix such a small bug? THE TIME!

I'm starting to get sick of reseting the time everytime i start up in os 10.2.4, i have used the CHUD workaround but i forget most time to set it so that it remebers the dam time.....why isn't apple fixing this ASAP?

Why don't you just set it to use a time server?

True, but I think he's exaggerating.

Yeah i'm still in 56k land and i do shut down my dual when i'm not useing it...i'm pissed off at apple for this as i would think that something like this could be fixed easy....i mean no other mac os i have ever used has done this....not sure about others but 10.2.3 was fine and so is 10.2.4 APART from this....the time stuffs up alot of things if you forget to set it every time...like iCal and iTunes and some game save files.....and in ichat it says some users have been away for over 1,000,000 hours....sure i know not all macs have this prob but come on apple just get a fix out! Alot of people have e-mailed feedback and it's all over apple forums......isn't anyone else pissed off that it's been two weeks and still no fix or post saying we working on it?

I have heard this is specific to the Dual 867 and 10.2.4. Are you on a Dual 867? Since most people don't have this combo there hasn't been much moaning places other than the Apple boards (the one person I know who has one reinstalled from scratch and only updated to 10.2.3).

It's not just the Duals, I had it occur to me *once* on my Pismo, but since then it's been fine.

Okay, so I've restarted my Pismo exactly twice since installing 10.2.4... with a 50% time loss rate.

Mac OS X has always been flakey with respect to losing its time. Since the developer preview days, it hasn't been uncommon for large percentages of users to always lose time settings on reboot or awake from sleep.

But hey! I consider it a feature... I haven't had to replace my mother board battery since it wouldn't make any difference

So does this make it right? I don't think so

So you can get mad about it or do something about it. Don't shut your computer down. It's that easy. Just put it to sleep. No need to get your panties in a wad. Sure, it sucks, but the workaround is so freakin' easy (and faster). Just chill out.

Christ! are we now defending workarounds for the Mac OS? !! how has it come to this? I too have a 56k line which cuts me off left right and centre. I don't keep my mac on when not in use 'cos I don't trust the electricity supply and system in my rented house. I don't understand some mac users at all. you seem to have a lovely existence where everyone has so much money that if you have a prob then just buy a new mac or replace your peripherals or keep the time via your broadband. Or maybe there aren't enough people who expect the best from their high price apple machines.

    the point is this:

I have a Mac NOT a windows machine. problems like this should NOT occur. If i wanted workarounds to do things that my computer should handle easily (like keeping the time a date for Christ's sake) then I'd have bought a PC.

STOP making excuses for apple. If you don't , apple gets lazy and we'll all wake up one day and not be able to see any difference between them and Microsoft.

I agree. This bug is annoying. I discovered it yesterday after booting my dual 867 MHz for the first time since the last 2 weeks (or so).

I don't have access to internet at home yet (I'm at work right now). So each time I reboot the Mac, I have to reset many parameters like Time, Date, and few others. This is really frustrating, Apple !

My clock battery died back when I was still using 10.2.2, so I would have never noticed such a problem in 10.2.4...

I'm not defending anything. I'm just saying that there is an easy workaround and rather than getting all riled up on some forum, to deal with it effectively. Jeez. File a bug report and then deal with it.

    LOL. Go Apple!

That's rediculous. Don't they realize that not all people have always on connections? I'm just lucky since I'm at a college.

    Ah well.

Are you serious? Its strange that you jump to such conclusions and emotionaly lash out at people.

Go back and read this thread again. Not a single post has defended apple. Not one single solitary post. The consensus seems to be that this is an annoying bug that has been around for a while. A couple posters offered work arounds and only one of these suggestions seemed a touch combative.

Its friday... here, i'll spark one for you Ahhhh..... Isn't it all better now?

Well it doesn't say it fixs the time issue....i hope 10.2.5 does fix this as it's something that if you look at Apples fourms alot of people are mad at apple for not fixing as soon as it came out....
