iPod 5G Gapless?

in iPod + iTunes + AppleTV edited January 2014
A friend has just given me her iPod 5G - the top of the range at the time, 60GB. I was wondering if the search facility and gapless playback were supposed to work on this model or not?



I can't find any information about whether this is only for the new ones. I'm pretty sure Jobs said gapless was not in the software update.

    my 5g supports gapless and has the letter overlay on fast scrolling.

    The original 5G iPod does not support search. You can update the software for the letter overlay, gapless, support for the iTunes games and screen brightness adjusment, but the search feature is reserved for the 5.5G.



    Apple has to have some way to keep us wanting to upgrade!



    Honestly though, I've used the search feature on a 5.5G and it's kind of a PITA. Easier to just navigate through the menus.

    Cheers, I was just curious to if the iPod was updated properly - this new iPod updater in iTunes is less obvious. I'll have to check out the gapless though, that is exciting!
