Well, seems that you're looking at a different apple.com page. The one that we're talking about had had this slogan on it for about 14 hours now...

I don't get this at all. I had imagined that the apple marketing people had sat down and carefully thought out each days slogan, but now it almost seems like they are making it up as they go along!! There is no way it could have been a typo is there?? and even if they had got it wrong, why fix it now?
hmmm maybe they are SO EXCITED that they are changing to to add double hype, ya know
change the teaser a bit, make it a bit more revealing(and cheesy) and all of a sudden saps like us are groaning over the change and getting even more anxious to see what it is that apple has...wonderful, thats a good tactic if you asked me, It also goes along with the earlier one about hte rumor sites and how it felt like it was directed at us specifically, ya know? adding the boldly will really only be noticed by the super-geeks that hang around on rumor sites and have been making auto updaters , don't you see! its a hidden meaning! meant for OUR EYES to catch, do you honestly think the avergage visitor to apple.com noticed the change? no, this was done on purpose, so that WE(not the masses) get doubly worked up...the only flaw in this theory is why? because we're the ones that its hardest to please, we're the ones that won't be happy unless we get iWalks with powerpods and dual 1.6 ghz g5s and ghz busting g4 iMas, so this WAS either a big mistake, or apple really has something that will wow us....
of course it could have just been some error in communication alogn the way
steve-o to web guys overseer "make it say, to BOLDLY go where no PC has gone before"
overseer to webguy "steve says, to go where no PC has gone before"
webguy thinks " shouldn't it be BOLDLY...well maybe steve wanted to change it"
steve sees it on apple.com and fires the webguy and the overseer.
You know what i meant. Apple changed that original slogan to make it more in line with what the rumor sites would be talking about. That change was directed at the rumor sites again, not just the average mac user.
Apple will need to answer for all this hype they are generating. They will not be announcing first contact with an alien civilization or the whereabouts of Osama Bin Laden. They will be announcing products and product specs in the same vein as the iPod hype.
I think they will be very specific:
1. This one is big... A New larger Cinema display
2. Blown away... New game hardware/software
3. Way beyond... Wireless technology or maybe Gigawire
4. Backstage pass... QuickTime 6 with MPEG4 preview
I'm not sure that the slogans mean anything besides to expect something big from Apple. I wouldn't read into the slogans as neccesarily relating to a product.
I'm afraid you guys are just mistaking marketing speak for the word of our lord and saviour Jesus Christ (amen)! I mean it's just catchy titles!

This may be true, but wouldn't it be cool if each one was mentioned in the Keynote somehow? (I know, this has been mentioned, but not in this thread)

DIE YOU BASTARD
So, Apple has changed it's website once again.
Why would they 'fix' the wording now?

How about PC == Personal Communicator

What I was trying to say was, that the PC in PowerPC doesn't mean Personal Computer but Performance Chip - it's not a guess!
Please do NOT click on that link.

Perhaps someone at Apple didn't know their Star Trek

At 12:26pm Central time, "boldly" was not there!
Here's a link to some alternative messages.Apple's Homepage- Humor
Why, however, would Apple take a perfectly good piece of english, and deliberately add a word split an infinitive?

It was changed purposely to get our attention!

Which they didn´t have before  ? If Apple got more attention from us right now they would loose a lot of customers due to starvation.
