Recommended Printer for Airport Extreme

Just found out my HP PhotoSmart 1315 printer will not work with the new airport extreme usb port. Any recommendations for a printer from HP/Canon/Epson that works with the Extreme and would provide good photo quality from my digitial camera and regular color printing?

    How did you find out that your printer would not work with the Airport Extreme base station? I am curious as to whether my HP DJ5550 is compatible. Also, I assume it has a true built in print server (IP assinging) so that Ican share with windows and mac, do you know details about this?

    sorry for more questions than answers, but its hard to find details on such new products.

    Here is the URL where to find printers that have been tested and approved:

    <a href="http://www.apple.com/airport/printcompatibility.html"; target="_blank">http://www.apple.com/airport/printcompatibility.html</a>;

    I have seen posts where printers that are not on the list do work but it seems the HP PhotoSmart 1315 does not work.

    TacoJohn,

    How did you get your Lexmark to work? The Airport does recognize that a HP1315 is connected to the USB port. I went to add my printer with Print Center and selected "Rendezvous" but the printer is never found. Has anyone had success with getting a HP Photosmart printer to work with the Extreme?

    My samsung ML-1210 is not listed as supported but works perfectly, had been using it as USB printer fro a year, just plugged it into the base station, selected it via rendezvous, prints just like it did off of USB. No slowdown (not that it was especially fast to begin with) and no lost jobs etc.

    This is a cheap ($100 on sale), sort of slow, but effective laser printer IME. Samsung's drivers are still beta but usually work OK. Note that there are actually two driver files to install if you want it to work ok (even for USB only use).

    I'm getting an airport nd 12" Powerbooklet, but I have a Photosmart p1100 so I'm going to assume that it won't work.

    Does USB print sharing even work with Photosmart printers? I know it did not with OS 9.

    Also, is USB print sharing on AE a Rendevous function? Meaning any printer put on the AE base must be Rendevous compliant?

    WelshDog,

    I believe the USB printing function from the Extreme is a Rendezvous function. The documentation for the airport says to use Print Center and select Rendezvous. It either seems to work or not work at that point.
