AFAIK any HD whether USB or Firewire will work with a Mac, in fact any HD will work with a Mac provided it's the same interface SATA, SCSI, ATA, etcetera. I've purchased perhaps 20 HD's for my macs over the years, none of them have ever been specific to the Mac market, and they've all worked quite well.

I look at HD's as commodity items, and at a $/GB pricepoint and what I can afford at that time, sometimes I look at the RPM of the HD or the read/write access times, but usually I just go for the cheapest.

I just don't think twice about a HD purchase in terms of branding or manufacturer.

    Good luck.

It will behave just like any other Mac HD, once formatted via Disk Utility, you're good to go for anything OS X related (including drag and drop).
