Apple Computer will soon update both its iTunes digital jukebox software and its QuickTime media software to support new product announcements made during last week's Macworld Expo in San Francisco.

According to those familiar with the matter, iTunes 7.1 is due for release within the next 45 days. The software update will be required for both Mac and PC users who wish to use Apple TV, Apple's new set-top streaming media device. It will also fix a number of glitches present on Intel-based Macs.

Similarly, Mac users of Apple TV will also be required to install a new version of QuickTime software, tentatively labeled QuickTime 7.1.5. Windows PC users, on the other hand, will reportedly need only QuickTime 7.1 or later.

Apple at the Macworld Expo last week said it will begin shipping Apple TV in February. Early pre-orders for the device through the company's online store have thus far yielded estimated ship dates of February 28th.

To the contrary, a recent report out of the far east claims Inventec, the Taiwanese original equipment manufacturer for Apple TV, will begin shipping the first batch of 100,000 units later this month.

Well, its blatantly obvious that iTunes will be updated within the next 45 days, otherwise it wouldn't be in February and people would be buying a load of rather useless Apple TVs...

I don't need to be particularily "familiar with the matter" to tell you that.

Your speaking from personal experience. Maybe if you hadn't re-married you wouldn't have had that problem.
