ATA133 RAID cards

Im lookin at getting an Ultra ATA/133 RAID card for my G4. Preferably I want with RAID and supporting at least 2 channels. What are some cards that will work with OS X? I am wondering if some of the generic PC ones work in OS X since they are a lot cheaper than some of the ones Ive seen advertised for Mac.

    I have a SIIg Ultra ATA 133/100 pro RAID. It was cheap when I found it, and it's (as far as I can tell) the best ATA RAID card there is for the Mac. Check it out: <a href="http://siig.com/products/ide/features/UltraATA133_100RAID.html"; target="_blank">SIIG</a>

    here are 4 links to it, but I think I paid less for it. The last one seems to be the cheapest, but I didn't check to see if any had free shipping.

    [EDIT] I just remembered why it was so cheap.. The SIIG card ($150) is the ACARD ($440) Acard just takes the SIIG card, and slaps their name on it.

    I can not comment on the SIIG card, but I have been using the ACARD RAID ATA133 card for a few months now. The installation was straight forward and without problems. I have had no difficulties that I am aware of with it. Mine is configured in RAID 0 (striped) with two 80 GB WD SE (8MB Cache) drives as my boot drive in Jaguar (10.2 through 10.2.4) on a Blue and White with G4/550 upgrade, DVR-105, Radeon Mac Edition and so on. I did not keep the benchmark test results, but the figures in the xlr8your mac link sound familiar. The defrag of Norton SystemWorks 1.0 did not work on the RAID array, but the one with DiskWarrior did. I seem to recall something about "deep sleep" not being supported, but the B&W supposedly lacks this feature so I can not comment on it, but the machine will go to sleep, including the HDs, and wake up although it takes a few seconds for the HDs to spin up. The ACARD is supposed to support RAID 1 (Mirroring) also, but I have not tested that configuration.

    You must have missed the part where I said "The ACARD is the SIIG card". It's not a similar card it is the exact same card shipped in a different box.

    SIIG card hooked to two WD 120GB Jumbo drives: a must have for any iMovie3 users (ahem).



    Love it.
