Is iPhone's software or the iPhone processor limited to 2 finger multi-touch? Or will more than 2 fingers be allowed for future iPhone/multi-touch apps... such as chording.

Here is how Fingerworks describes MultiTouch.

The technology used in our MultiTouch surface produces images of the hands and fingers as they approach the surface. In effect, a video is created that records the complete motion of all fingers and the other parts of the hands. Furthermore, our MultiTouch software can track and interpret the motion of many hands (and their corresponding fingers) at a time. Touchpads can only sense the position of one finger, or if more than one finger is touching the surface the touchpad senses their centroid.

I think it's very limited on such a small screen. It will really shine when it gets on Apple's forthcoming tablet computer.

From the videos of this technology that I've seen and the information I've read, you can use as many points on the screen as you want. The only limit that I can imagine would be the processor and the load it would take having to deal with so much input.

I have no idea what kind of system supports Jeff Han's demo model, but I'm pretty sure it's a supercomputer.

Its a simple PC. These are reasonably easy to make which is what makes it cool.
