Shutdown/Closed Lid Kernel Panic

So whenever I shutdown my MacBook Pro and close the lid before it's completely off, the kernel panics and the computer stays on. I know the easy solution is to just wait until the thing is off, but it can be really annoying if you're in a hurry. I'm just wondering is this is going to be fixed or if there's any way around it.

    Lets hope that there will be a fix in 10.4.9. Its coming soon and the intel version is quite a bit larger then the PPC version. telling me that it willcontain more fixes that us MACintel people will enjoy.

    Or that Intel requires more code...
