Cinema Display with IBM PC?

Hey guys,

I have a 30" cinema screen from 2001 or so. It is currently going unused, and I'd like to try hooking it up to my IBM laptop.

I went to the apple store and they didn't have anything going from ADC to VGA. A google search turned up something by a company named gefen thats a couple hundred bucks but it seems advertised mostly for use with powerbooks, so I'm not sure that that's the right idea.

Anyone know what I could do? Am I totally out of luck?

I'm not too familiar with IBM laptops but are you sure the video card will be able to drive that monitor? might be worth going to apple.com and checking out the tech specs on it too see.

    From the apple website:

"Windows PC and graphics card that supports DVI ports with dual-link digital bandwidth and VESA DDC standard for plug-and-play setup

There was no Apple 30" Display introduced in 2001. The Apple 30" Cinema Display was introduced in 2004 and is the ONLY 30" display that Apple sold. It is NOT an ADC display as it requires dual-link DVI.

As the previous poster said, first check if your IBM laptop can support a dual-link display, if in fact you have an Apple 30" display. This sounds unlikely if your laptop has a VGA port. You need a dual-link DVI port which would be on newer probably medium to higher end laptops.
