Someone help us out here, I didn't do anything but the YouTube vids aren't playing. To try to fix I did permisssions, and I reinstalled Adobe Flash player, but still no fix. This is confusing me.

Just to clarify, Flip4Mac plays WMV files streamed through Quicktime fine, and Quicktime movies seem fine too. It's just the flash type in YouTube, and say certain other specific circumstances I'm having the trouble with.

    1) Go to YouTube.

    2) Pick random awful video.

    3) Open Safari's Activity video and look for the get_video URL to download it separately.

    4) Rename file from get_video to RandomAwfulVideo.flv. Disregard Finder's extension change warning.

    5) Open QuickTime Player.

    6) Drag RandomAwfulVideo.flv onto QuickTime's Dock icon.

    7) Enjoy random awful video.

Seems like there must be a fix though.

You have to add the .flv extension so it's recognized as a Flash Video, yes. That's normal, though. Don't expect it to be fixed in the next decade.

How about just turn off Quicktime playback of flash video and instead just use flash?

Maybe I was naive to think someone could solve this one. Basically Safari isn't playing flash movies correctly, or even at all. Does anyone know where the link to the Adobe flash player 9.0UB is, not 9.1?

I tried that but still no luck, even when I try and install it in Safari and Adobe takes me to their site with Safari, where the message should read success, there's a big quicktime Q with a question mark over that, arrgh!!

That's not the answer I'm looking for, I know how to do that. Anyway if I'm going to go to the trouble of downloading the files i'd use FLV converter.

If you turn off Enable Flash there, then restart your browser, does anything change?

In Advanced -> Media Keys? -> Miscellaneous, is it on there? Try turning it off there.
