Buying a Mac before Leopard

If I buy a Mac now before Leopard comes out, what happens when I want to install Leopard? Will I have to erase all the files that are on the computer (reformat)? Or can is it just like an upgrade and I would be able to keep all my Mac files along with Windows files?

    Oh lord, your thinking in the days of windows. You can easily keep all your mac os x files when transfering from tiger to leopard. If not there wouldnt be a point to upgrading if you couldnt keep your old files and had to reformat the hard drive. Not sure about the windows files going from tiger w/ boot camp to leopard w/ boot camp. Apple should release a patch for boot camp if not the full blown thing by the time leopard comes out.
