I think tactile feedback can be replaced by other methods. The biggest being aural feedback. A broad range of carefully planned Sound Fx would help you navigate your way through the interface naturally.

A lot of people type without looking at the keyboard for a few seconds at a time so you would be getting a visual top-up every time you look down at the keys for a split second, group that with smart software that focuses and predicts where your finger is aiming for and Sound FX that guide you without realizing.

I have been practising with my normal Apple keyboard and every key appears to my ears as giving off a different sound so I really believe this is a possibility. It would just take some very good researchers and engineers to pull it off

PS: I'm still working on the Mockups

Hey Up! This is my Mockup.

I have been working on a little interface demo video too.

The bare bones 1st step can be viewed here:

    Flash Version

    Quicktime (HD) Version

    (Click For Larger Pic)

There will be more added to the video. It's only about 10% complete.

    I plan on including:

Interactive shots of the Keyboard interface

    Longer Dock Scroll

    Aperture/iPhoto Viewing and Editing Interfaces

    Final Cut Studio Interface

    iLife Interface

    and that's about it...

PS: For the record. I'm not Sad. It's a pretty cool way to try and develop my Photoshop skills and learn Motion proppa-like.

a lot of people speculate that apple bought this company and that's why they stopped supplying products a while back.

    It's not speculation, it's fact!

I can remeber you posting this about 6 months ago at least. I think it's a great idea for artists and designers. Programmers and word processors may not feel so inspired, but that sucks for them!

I forget where I read about it, but some company has screens out with tactile feedback that presses back at you when you touch it.

That said, I doubt we will even get something similar to the Optimus let alone this multi-touch screen. We sure do need a new keyboard though! Personally, I haven't liked any of the Apple keyboards since the Extended Keyboard II.
