I have a macbook pro running on an airport extreme base station currently. when i set it up i remember it asking me if i just wanted to use it as an extension to my current wireless set up. i have a powermac g4 upstairs with no wireless card (and won't accomodate an airport extreme card). is there a way i can use the lynksys router i was using before i got the airport as an extension to the system and then plug my powermac into it via ethernet cable? thanks id advance.

There are third party wireless network cards that will fit into the power mac G4's and these will be usable on the network you have without any problems.

If it's the correct version of Linksys (or compatible) router, you might find that the third-party DD-WRT firmware will do the trick.
