MBPro 17 Intel Core 2 Duo Audio only works with the headphones?

MBPro 17 Intel Core 2 Duo Audio only works with the headphones?

There is a red light constantly emitting from the headphone socket?

I can not listen to sound unless headphones are plugged in - when taken out I get a red light and the volume controls kets seem locked?



And when I goto sytem prefs and check sound it is locked on Digital Out

    Take it in to a store. Sometimes MacBooks think that it should be putting out optical Audio when they shouldn't, which means it turns off the speakers.

    I just had the same problem. Optical Audio jack is on (red light) and no sound except with Headphones....



    This has never happened before the last update to MacOSX ?!?!?



    Any solutions ?
