Flash 6 might be coming soon...
Since the plugin has been released:
http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/index.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=FlashPlayer6bin&P2_Platf orm=MacPPC&P3_Browser_Version=MSIE
(I know, windows probably had a plugin already - although I couldn't find it on Windowstracker).
IIRC in previous versions of Flash and Director it took about a month between the first publically seeded beta plug-in and the announcement of the app. Then another month or so before release.
Now I assume Flash 6 wil be carbonized. With Photoshop also being so close, this could be very sweet. I know one person who's going to switch to OS X now his complete toolkit will soon be available in X.
'A period of transition'.

Flash produces interactive vector content for the web. The Flash plugin has been carbonized long ago for Mac OS X (since 10.0 ?)
Shockwave is more bitmap & game-oriented. and its plugin has just been released for Mac OS X.
I'm not in any way confused, just speculating. Read the **** post:

Please, do not take me for a moron. I'm talking about Flash 6 here, not the Flash plug-in for OS X.
Speed improvements, tons of new scripting features, new UI, layer folders, etc etc
and you can dynamically load plain jpegs!
woo!

Meaning you can include a path to a JPEG, and you don't have to include it in a shockwave file? Cool!
Have you heard anything about OS X compatibility?
The timeline in Flash is such a one f*cking big pain in the ass to deal with.
and cinder, you sound as if you know a bit, you wanna expand on the UI any more. it's one of the things that drives most crazy about flash...
meat
I don't know specifics, but over at Ultrashock there's something to allude to including streaming video and video conferencing abilities... Hell, if I can dynamically load a jpg I'll be happy - although I would also love to be able to manipulate masks dynamically and not have to antialias dynamic text fields also...

So if you want the Flash 6 plugin for OS X, here it is :
http://download.macromedia.com/pub/sho ckwave/flash/english/macosx/6.beta/flashplayer6_macosx.bin
Anyone got any ideas when we might see them?

erm...I don't suppose you'd fancy replacing those "description"s with actual descriptions, would you?
