Real player not until June

Got some interesting news today from a rep at Real. I called to cancel my Gold pass membership, and the tech asked me why I was cancelling. I said that didn't use the service, and Real wasn't available on OSX anyway. He laughed and said "Oh, you're a Mac user, cool I've got one at home. Just wait until June." He even offered to credit my account until June. I asked if that meant Real Player was coming out in June, and he said that there will be even more than the player. He wouldn't eleborate, but said the software was in testing. I was bummed about the June date, but it is the first solid info I've heard from anyone related to Real.

Just thought everyone would want to know...

there was a rumor that real was combining realplayer and jukebox into a single product...so maybe that's it.....

    mileage may vary.

Will this be the version that *doesn't* suck? That would be quite an improvement in itself.

I don't usually feel this way about products (hardware, software, etc.), but I just can't seem to get too excited about having RealPlayer on my two macs running OS X.

I guess having an OS X version can't be a BAD thing... so whatever.

    Get excited? No.

Heave sigh of relief that I don't have to use Amazon.com in classic mode come June? Yes.

Well, June has come and gone...

Did I miss the release, or does Real just suck like they always have?

    What a bunch of punks!

    Yep, Real still sucks!

The "word on the street" is that they will introduce RealOne for X at MWNY but I don't see their name on the exhibitors list.

Didn't cnet say Real would be part of the MWNY keynote? If so, they don't necessarily have to exhibit, since they must know they blow anyway.

Because people are stupid enough to use Real.

Lots of sites are still using RealVideo format for delivering their content. One of the ones that I have not been able to frequent since moving to OSX is <a href="http://www.necn.com"; target="_blank">www.necn.com which is New England Cable News (Online). All of their content is RealMedia.

There are quite a few other examples out there.

Any site that thinks their content is worthy of realmedia, isn't worth my time.
