Question about a new hard drive in my old G4Dual 500

I want to get a big hard drive inside the computer using the ATA connection



How big ccan I go?

can I put a 240Gig drive?

700Gig?



there is a 75 Gig in there now.

    Power Macs earlier than the 2002 Quicksilver models do not have built-in support for IDE hard drives with capacities over 128 GB. Without a third-party solution, larger drives can only be formatted to 128 GB in these models. There are three options (as noted on Accelerate Your Mac):



    * Intech's ATA Hi-Cap Support Driver

    * A PCI IDE card that supports big drives

    * A FireWire enclosure that supports big drives

    Do you mean to say that if I format a larger disk into 128g partitions then that will work?

    But, are all the solutions besides the external involving a PCI slot?

    Mine are all taken

    though I suppose I don't need my SCSI card anymore . . . . hm?!
