OS X aqua theme in OS 9?

Is there any replacement theme for OS 9 that will display the OS X style aqua theme for windows, scroll bars, etc? I've seen a number of themes, but none have looked like this (possible legal conflict with Apple? I don't think so, as long as it's free). Provided I find a replacement theme I like, how do I install it? Thanks for the help.

There have been many Apperarance Themes and Kaleidoscope Schemes developed over the years to mimic Aqua. If you haven't found any, I believe you just haven't looked hard enough. Shoot, even I created and published an Aqua Kal. scheme back in 2000. I don't have it any more; so, don't ask.

Well, I tried looking harder, and I did indeed find two places were Aqua themes were posted, but both were removed "at Apple's request." So I don't think there's any website where it's posted. But if there was some other way, like through e-mail, I don't think that would be a problem...

I wonder why Apple won't let people put free interface enhancers on their web sites? They're free, as in not making any money off of Apple's ideas. Just for fun.

I can't believe this. All I have to do is search for "aqua kaleidoscope" at yahoo, and here's what I get:

    <a href="http://buryme34.tripod.com/kschemes.html"; target="_blank">K Schemes Banned By Apple V.EOL</a>

    Is that not sufficient? <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

Yes, thank you very much! I happen to use Google.com as my search engine, and when extensive searching turned up two websites that had the themes removed by Apple, I assumed that any others that I may find would also have been removed. There's no need to be rude about it.

Google and Yahoo should give you exactly the same results, since yahoo now uses google for its searches. I think the only difference is that yahoo's results are organized a little better. Yahoo maybe actually will give you fewer hits, 'cause I think you have to actuallly submit to Yahoo, I don't know. Anyway, when I have run searches trough both, I've gottenthe same results.

Yeah, so this is pretty irrelevant so I'm going to go now.

Sorry, it just seemed ridiculously obvious for me to find.

    Enjoy!

Thanks to everyone who emailed me themes! I've settled on a Kaleidescope theme, and it works just great.

Of course, I'm sure you all realize that Apple legal is eventually going to get wind of this little discussion, and shut down that site on tripod... <img src="graemlins/bugeye.gif" border="0" alt="[Skeptical]" />

Get 'em while you still can, friends.

I'm pretty sure that site has had them for a while, because it seems familar from about a year ago so I doubt Apple's gunna do anything.

Actually, that tripod site has been shut down for a while now but it was because of bandwidth, not Apple legal. Just look at <a href="http://buryme34.tripod.com/banned.html"; target="_blank">the main page for it</a>. That's also why the graphics don't work. Fortunately the old links like the one I posted before sill work for now.

yeah I saw that site this morning.

It is beyond me as to why Apple would allow a site that makes programs that outright DUPLICATE the look and feel of OS X on a PC.

My website ran off of a Frameset that looked like OS X 10.0 for a while, untill I received a Cease and Desist order from Apple's Law Firm, I had 24 hours to redo my website.

I think I'll whip out the paperwork they sent me and call the lawfirm. I think it's STUPID that people like me get squashed but people doing far worse get let go.

Well looks like Apple was faster than me... I was on the phone and they said that they had already recieved eight phone calls about them today due to an article at resexcellence.com and they had issued an order to cease and desist 45 min before my call.

Too bad so sad, copy apple and you get squashed.

    Man, you're an asshole...

I like it! I really feel te same way... it's Apple's right. They made aqua. Could you please tell us the numbers to call for the lawyers' offices or where to report this type of thing? I know some Aqua-stealers and I've got a few 'friends' who have been copying Apple's shit for a while now...

If you really feel obligated to report this, I'm sure you can find the information you're looking for on <a href="http://www.apple.com"; target="_blank">apple.com</a>. However, don't expect a reward. Don't even expect a pat on the back.

    &lt;annoyed mode&gt;Some people just don't get it: Nobody really likes a tattle-tale -- not even lawyers.&lt;/annoyed mode&gt;

BTW are these Kaleidoscope schemes snappy?

I've had the Kaleidescope theme on since this discussion and I've gotten used to it, but it's definitely less snappy than before. Remember that I have a 233 MHz PBG3, and I'm sure a 550 MHz PBG4 would handle it just fine. The main area where it slows down is the menubar. Anything else is just like before, but menus definitely take a little longer to drop down.
