"stay tuned" when it comes to videoconferencing...

...technology from the company." Initial internal reports for Cheetah claimed that video conferencing would be made available, though more likely it would be in Puma or later...

Initial reports also claimed to have Instant Messaging built in, but also said it would be more likely it would be in Puma or later...

If you remember reading about two or so years ago Apple posted a job on the external job board, looking for some engineers for Mail.app, they needed to have video conferencing background, and know the know how to implement it into Mail.app...

If you remember one of the things Steve Jobs spoke about in the NeXT days was that Mail.app would be able to handle video conferencing...

I guess if it does not have CONFIRMED in the title, no one cares?

No one has bothered to respond because:

    a) this isn't the forum for it; "Software" is. "Mac OS X" is for general discussion about X.

    b) there's already <a href="http://forums.appleinsider.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=3&t=000707"; target="_blank">another thread about a possible Apple-branded chat program.

    c) you didn't cite any sources with your post, thereby giving it and you zero credibility.

    Take your pick.

fact of the matter is, while it is an interesting subject area, when you have been around these boards for as long as some of us, you need more than a few bones to pick with. Otherwise we get cranky

Regarding your post, I have a Philips TuoCam and noticed that ispqvideo chat, BTV, oculous, and the 3rd party app (macam), work fine with it (MacOS X). We are still missing iVisit and possibly somekind of implementation for MSN Messenger, ICQ, etc etc... Would be nice if MS would port NetMeeting for Mac too. Windows version of NetMeeting friggen rocks. White board, text chat, video chat, conferencing, and even control other persons remote PC. Apple has a WAY to go for videoconferencing and stuff like that.

What the hell are ALL those engineers doing anyway?

Yet, people make up lies and stories and post them here at AI, MacNN, MacOSX, and many other forums. Why go to the trouble? Hell if I know! Maybe they get a "kick" out of it or some twisted ego boost. I have been really ticked off with a lot of it lately. ZO is right; some of us "old timers" are getting cranky after putting up with this kind of spam.

Post something substantial (ie. links? sources? details? anything?) and you might get a friendlier welcome.

You are not an "old timer"!

I used to read 'NN Reality... I wonder how many people here remember that!

I'm certainly older than some of these kids.

    Moving to Software.

(It's not really a surprise, is it? Now that Steve's let it out. Details?)

No offence but this sentence alone suggests you're not that old either

Last I checked, the "big posters" around here are still kids. EmAn is 15, Tiger Woods is 18, applenut is 17. The venerable groverat is 20 and I think Leonis and Eugene are in their early 20s. Where's Steve Jobs' birthday thread when you need it...

[edit] oh... wait... I think I just got it.

My mind is gettin slow in its old age!
